This week we witnessed Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool seal their tenth consecutive Premier League victory, defeating Manchester City 3-2 in what many felt was a title decider.

With that knowledge behind us, two of the Reds’ star forwards make our team, while Fulham’s vital 1-0 win over Norwich sees a number of their team make the Goal XI.

Between the posts, David Stockdale (4) just edges out David Marshall (4) after making a series of stunning stops for Felix Magath’s side as they overcame Norwich at Craven Cottage.

Joining the goalkeeper are centre-backs John Heitinga (3.5) and Brede Hangeland (3.5) after the pair combined to keep the Canaries at bay and secure a rare clean sheet.

At right-back, Branislav Ivanovic (3.5) makes his first appearance of the season in TOTW following a convincing display in Chelsea’s 1-0 win at Swansea on Sunday afternoon.

Newcastle are sinking without trace and Stoke became the latest outfit to beat them via a freak goal from Erik Pieters (3.5), who makes our team.

Nemanja Matic (4) has made an impact since returning to Stamford Bridge from Benfica and the Serbian put in a dominant display at the Liberty Stadium, culminating in a fine assist for Demba Ba to score the solitary goal of the game.

But we head to Anfield next to highlight the match-winning and sizzling performances from attacking midfield duo Raheem Sterling (4.5) and Philippe Coutinho (4.5). The former opened the scoring, waltzing past the Manchester City defence and Joe Hart and slotting into an empty net before the Brazilian completed the win with a superb snapshot finish.

Despite the ease in which Liverpool raced into a two-goal lead, the Reds were pegged back level from 2-0 up and that was in no small part thanks to David Silva’s (4) genius. An honourable mention must also go to James Milner (3.5) who came off the bench to help drag City level.

Marko Arnautovic (4) has had a mixed season but is one of those players capable of brilliance seemingly at every turn. Though he didn’t contribute directly to Stoke’s win over Newcastle, he was influential throughout the match.

Finally up front we have Hugo Rodallega (4), Fulham’s goalscoring hero. The Colombian’s finish was sharp and accurate and precisely the tonic needed if Magath’s boys are going to achieve the impossible and stay up.
