SCHOLES LINED UP FOR MANCHESTER UNITED RETURN
Paul Scholes could be set for an emotional return to Old Trafford this summer.
The Manchester United legend decided to take a breather after hanging his boots up for a second time last year and, although Scholes was offered a coaching role within the Carrington set-up he wanted to spend more time with his family.
But the former England midfielder was spotted last Saturday evening in talks with David Gill and Sir Alex Ferguson at the Alderley Edge hotel.
Sources have indicated United are keen to discover what he wants to do next and want to bring him back into the fold as they look to bolster David Moyes’s coaching team.
Scholes, unlike some of his former colleagues, was full of support for United’s under-pressure manager earlier this week, insisting: “With all the injuries he’s had, I feel quite sorry for him really.
“He’s never been able to put out the same back four. You see all the top teams, they have the same back four every week, especially with the centre-backs, they need to get an understanding and rhythm together.
“Michael Carrick’s been injured, Robin van Persie’s been injured, key players have been injured [but] he’s not made any excuses and tried to get on with it and hopefully next year will be better.”
SINCLAIR CAN LEAVE MANCHESTER CITY FOR £3M
Scott Sinclair is being made available for as little €3.5 million by Manchester City this summer.
The figure represents half of what City paid for the former Swansea City man back in the summer of 2012, with the winger arriving during Roberto Mancini’s time in charge of the club.
Currently on loan at West Brom, the midfielder has struggled to feature at The Hawthorns due to both injuries and a lack of form and City are now looking to cut their losses on one of the lowest-paid players at the club, who earns €40,000-a-week.
CITY TO POCKET £6M-A-YEAR FROM BRIDGE NAMING RIGHTS
Manchester City are poised to bridge the Financial Fair Play gap to the tune of an extra €7m a year.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are already in deep discussions with a number of major companies to display their names and logos on a bridge as part of the City Football Academy development.
City are putting the finishing touches to their €180m state-of-the-art City Football Academy, which is situated across from the Etihad Stadium.
The Manchester club have also spent millions on a foot bridge that spans two major junctions and will connect the two sites, which will be used to illustrate the club’s mission statement of creating a path from youth to first-team.
