Manchester United have announced their starting XI to face CSKA Moscow, with the main talking point being Memphis Depay dropped in favour of Jesse Lingard.

The Netherlands international has struggled to find his best form since moving to Old Trafford, having impressed so much at PSV Eindhovern. 

And in Wednesday’s key Champions League fixture in the Russian capital, manager Louis Van Gaal has opted to leave his summer purchase on the bench. 

Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney will lead the United attack, with Lingard and Ander Herrera tasked with supporting. 

Marcos Rojo also makes the starting line-up at left-back, on his return to city where he spent a year with CSKA’s rivals Spartak Moscow. 

Ecuadorean Antonio Valencia occupies the other flank for the Red Devils.
