Juventus’ Beppe Marotta Addresses Rumours Surrounding Paul Pogba & Alvaro Morata’s Potential Returns

Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta has spoken out on rumours that Premier League duo Paul Pogba and Alvaro Morata want to return to the Scudetto holders. However, he quashed rumours that either star could re-join this summer.

It was from there the football executive was asked his thoughts on the recent managerial appointments and departures in the league, as well as any updates on Juventus’ transfer dealings, as reported by Italian news outlet Calciomercato.

UEFA Match for Solidarity

“The most important phase of the transfer market has just begun. We have many footballers and I am aware about the rumours concerning [Alvaro] Morata and other former footballers that want to return to Juve.

“I am happy because it means they spent a very good time at Juve and it’s nice to notice that they’d like to be back.”

Marotta’s comments come amidst reports linking the return of Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata, following a fruitless season in the Premier League, and, most notably, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba – a man they made the most expensive player of all time in 2016, paying a then-world record fee of £89m to bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford.

Chelsea v Manchester United - The Emirates FA Cup Final

Although after two seasons whereby the France international has failed to hit the heights he found himself capable of with Juventus and while on international duty, he has been linked with a dramatic return to his former club in the summer transfer window.

Speaking further on the matter, Marotta said: “I don’t want to deceive fans, our attacking department is already complete and we have some top International footballers. Any kind of transfer right now is utopia.

“Mandzukic? You know Juventus do not want to keep unhappy players or players who have no motivations to remain. Mandzukic has never told us that he wants to leave so I think he will be staying for next season.”

Assuming there are no departures from Juventus in an attacking capacity, it seems as though neither Morata or Pogba will get their Juve reunion they reportedly desire.

Italian Report Claims Manchester United Agree £44m Fee for Brazilian International Midfielder

Sky Sports Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Manchester United have agreed a deal worth £44m for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred.

In a report published on Di Marzio’s official website, the journalist suggests that the deal is done and the Brazil international will be moving to Old Trafford this summer. United manager Jose Mourinho is reported to be excited at the prospect of a midfield comprised of Fred, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

Di Marzio also claims that United considered making a move for highly-rated Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but opted to move for Fred instead as they felt the 23-year-old Serbian international would be too expensive.

As Mourinho looks to improve his United squad ahead of the new season, there could be one or two players leaving the club to make way for fresh faces. One such player is left back Matteo Darmian, who Di Marzio claims is edging closer to a move to Italian giants Juventus. United are reportedly interested in Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic, although there is no suggestion as of yet that they could use Darmian as a makeweight in any deal for the Croatian forward.

Finally, Di Marzio’s report also suggests that Mourinho could make a shock move for West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic, who he worked with for a year at Internazionale. Arnautovic scored 11 Premier League goals last season following a £25m transfer from Stoke.

Fred, 25, has made over 100 appearances for Shakhtar since joining the Ukrainian giants from Brazilian outfit Internacional in 2013. Should Di Marzio’s report prove accurate, the midfielder will be United’s first major signing this summer as they look to challenge local rivals Manchester City for next season’s Premier League title.

Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp Reveals Why He Snubbed Man Utd Interest in Favour of Reds

Jurgen Klopp has revealed off field arrangements that detracted from football and the ability to be himself were key reasons why he snubbed Manchester United in favour of Liverpool.

The German was not short of suitors after calling time on his spell with Borussia Dortmund in 2015, and despite insisting that he was set to take a year long sabbatical the 50-year-old answered the Reds’ call after Liverpool parted ways with Brendan Rodgers.

However, United were known to have made an approach for Klopp in 2014 after David Moyes was axed, but Klopp turned down the offer and instead went on to take the helm at Anfield not long after, and is currently on the cusp of steering the club to their sixth European Cup.

Ahead of the Champions League showdown against Real Madrid on Saturday, Klopp spoke with Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler and revealed why the Red Devils never appealed to the football romantic side of him, unlike the Anfield outfit.

When asked about United’s offer during an interview with Robbie Fowler, he told the Mirror of Liverpool: “I love the history. I really am a football romantic. I knew I probably can help. They maybe really need me, in this time. I know what I’m good at.

“When they told me about the problems they had I thought ‘ok, yeah, I am probably the really right manager for that club’.

“I felt something special immediately when Mike Gordon called me. I was not ready, I thought it made sense that I had one year off. But I really knew, ok, that is one club that I can not say no to.

“A little thing. Liverpool is a world class brand, big, big, big, but in Melwood, you know it Robbie, it is still a family, nothing else, and you can go in and feel that.

“I have to develop and improve, sure, but I don’t want to go into the office in the morning to wear a tie. That is not me.”

When pressed further, Klopp suggested other clubs who sounded out his interest were too focused on issues beyond the field of play.

He added: “I go in with a baseball cap and they still respect me, I don’t have to act in a specific way. They took me like I am, they didn’t ask me to do anything else, so I could focus from the first day completely on football.

“It is a football club. A football club. I had talks with other clubs and they didn’t sound like a football club. It sounded like marketing, image, you need to sign this, you need to sign that. And I thought wow, that’s not the game I love.

“It’s all part of football, but it can not be the number one, two, three, four, priority. First of all please try to improve the game we play. And that’s what I am good in. All the rest can happen but it’s not so important for me.”

Wife of Argentina’s Sergio Romero Hits Out at Drop & Claims Goalkeeper Would Be Fit for World Cup

Eliana Guercio, wife of Manchester United’s Sergio Romero, has hit back at claims the goalkeeper’s current knee injury has kept him out of the Argentina World Cup squad.

It was revealed by nation representatives on Tuesday that the United shot stopper was omitted from Jorge Sampaoli’s squad for the World Cup due to a knee injury, however just hours later Guercio took to Twitter, as reported by Argentine outlet Clarin, to express her disgust at the report, claiming his injury isn’t as severe as the national team are making it out to be.

One tweet reads: “The injury occurred in the game against Spain. Sergio will have a clean where they remove a loose small part, and with a knee that has nothing broken the recovery takes two weeks to be fit. But private interests are worth more than national team for some.”

Romero was predominantly used in the cup competitions by Jose Mourinho this season having made four FA Cup appearances and three League Cup appearances, whilst only managing one Premier League appearance in United’s final game of the season against Watford.

Sampaoli has instead decided to include Willy Caballero of Chelsea, Nahuel Guzman of Tigres and Franco Armani of River Plate as his three goalkeepers with Romero forced to sit out of the competition.

It looked highly likely that Romero was due to be first choice for Argentina this summer, however the 31-year-old will now have to wait another four years before he can hope to represent his country at another World Cup.

The Argentine squad selection also made headlines for another reason this week, with Inter’s star forward Mauro Icardi also being left out of the squad. With the wealth of attacking talent available to Sampaoli, it was inevitable a big name would have to make way and unfortunately for Icardi it wasn’t to be his year.

Argentina get their World Cup campaign underway against Iceland on June 16 as they look to avenge their final defeat of four years ago to Germany by winning the competition this summer.

Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal Rules Out Chelsea Switch But Remains Keen on Other Premier League Club

After spending three seasons with Bayern Munich, Chile’s Arturo Vidal is reportedly looking for a new challenge away from the Bavarian club, and has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League.

The 31-year-old midfielder is widely anticipated to leave Bayern Munich this summer, after having won the Bundesliga for third time with Die Bayern, although the former Juventus man will be slightly disheartened by Chile’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, as well as sustaining a knee injury in April.

FC Bayern Muenchen v VfB Stuttgart - Bundesliga

In recent years, Vidal has been heavily tipped to join Chelsea should he choose to come to the Premier League, not least due to the positive relationship he established with Blues boss Antonio Conte throughout their time in Turin together.

However, with Conte widely tipped to leave Chelsea this summer, as well as the Blues failing to secure qualification to the Champions League, Vidal is reportedly no longer interesting in making the switch to London, as reported by Chilean journalist Maks Cárdenas.

Instead, Manchester United have become the main subject of Vidal’s interest, with Bayern reportedly ready to allow the Chile midfielder leave for a fee of €50m.

Despite Vidal still having one year remaining on his contract, he is keen to leave Bayern Munich, with the incoming Leon Goretzka expected to limit the 31-year-old’s opportunities at the Allianz Arena.
