Raducanu only made her Women’s Tennis Association Tour debut in June and rose to prominence over the last fortnight, by beating two top-50 players on her way to the last 16 at Wimbledon.
The teenager faced Ajla Tomljanovic in a prime-time slot on Monday evening and was trailing when she became unwell, leaving the court before it was announced she would not be returning.
In a statement that was released via her official Twitter account today, amid a whirlwind of media chatter and surprising scrutiny, Raducanu admitted the whole experience of her Wimbledon heroics had “caught up with her” but she was thankfully feeling better, as you can read below.
