The Netherlands international is a reported target of Manchester United and his current contract is set to expire on June 30
Aston Villa have offered Ron Vlaar a new contract amid reported interest from Manchester United.
The Netherlands international has been linked regularly with a move to Louis van Gaal’s side since the coach took over last year, with his current deal set to expire on June 30.
But the Villa Park outfit have confirmed that Vlaar has been offered a new contract following the club’s Premier League survival.
Meanwhile, striker Darren Bent has joined Derby County on a two-year contract having been released by Villa.
The England international spent the second half of the season on loan at the Championship outfit, scoring 12 goals in 17 games as the Rams narrowly missed out on a place in the play-offs.
And he now becomes manager Paul Clement’s first signing having spent four-and-a-half seasons with the FA Cup runners-up following his move from Sunderland.
