Man United still undecided on Falcao, say Monaco

The Colombia international has scored just four goals in 22 Premier League appearances during his loan spell at Old Trafford, but the club hold the option to buy him outright

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev says that Manchester United have yet to make a decision on whether they will sign Radamel Falcao permanently at the end of the season.

United signed the Colombia international in a £6 million loan deal in September, and hold the option to buy the striker outright for €55 million in the summer should they wish to.

However, Falcao has flattered to deceive at Old Trafford, scoring just four goals in 22 Premier League appearances thus far in 2014-15, and Vasilyev claims United are undecided over whether they will activate their clause to buy the 29-year-old.

“I saw Manchester United’s board last Sunday & they’ve not decided whether to use Falcao’s purchase clause,” he told Nice Matin. “It’s not his best season, but they kept the opportunity to make a decision at the end of the season.”

Vasilyev also insists that a number of clubs are interested in signing Falcao, despite his poor season at Old Trafford, but says that they will wait to hear of United’s intentions before entering into negotiations with another club.

“We are not in other negotiations at the moment, even if other clubs are interested,” he added. “The decision is with Manchester United.”

When asked about Falcao’s departure, Vasilyev acknowledged that the striker had suffered a number of “mishaps” at Monaco, and revealed that he fell out with manager Claudio Ranieri.

“He had mishaps in Monaco: he had problems with the coach, there was a misunderstanding and he was also seriously injured and missed the World Cup,” he said. “In late August, he came to tell us that he wanted to play at a high level.
