Firmino shrugs off Man Utd rumours: I'm happy at Hoffenheim

The attacking midfielder, who is set to star for Brazil in this summer’s Copa America, says he only has eyes for his current club

Brazil star Roberto Firmino has played down Manchester United transfer rumours by insisting he is happy at Hoffenheim.

The attacking midfielder has developed into one of the Bundesliga’s stand-outs in recent seasons, scoring 22 times in 2013-14 and a further nine times this term.

Firmino scored the winner as Brazil defeated Chile during the international break last month and looks set to feature in Dunga’s Copa America squad this summer.

His efforts have not gone unnoticed and Man Utd are strongly rumoured to be ready to sign the €30 million-rated 23-year-old, though Firmino himself has moved to downplay exit talk.

“I have a contract with Hoffenheim until 2017 and I’m happy here,” he told reporters. “I have developed a lot at this club and right now all I’m thinking about is playing for Hoffenheim.”

Firmino’s performances have played a part in Hoffenheim sitting seventh in the Bundesliga, just two points off a guaranteed Europa League spot with seven games to go.

The former Figueirense youngster, who has also been linked with Arsenal in recent months, joined the German club in January 2011.
