Inzaghi: I want to become AC Milan's Ferguson

The 41-year-old says he has been assured by president Silvio Berlusconi that he will lead the club for the next 20 years

Filippo Inzaghi is determined to leave a lasting legacy as AC Milan head coach and become known as the Serie A side’s own Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Scot guided Manchester United to numerous trophies during a remarkable 27-year spell in charge of Manchester United and Inzaghi hopes to oversee a similar era at Milan.

“I would like to do at Milan what Ferguson did at Manchester United,” Inzaghi told Corriere dello Sport.

“The president understands what I want and Milan have given me so much…

“I will still be Milan coach in 20 years’ time. President [Silvio] Berlusconi told me this when he visited Milanello the other day.

“There is total harmony among the team. Everything has been running smoothly and there have not been any incidents. The team spirit is amazing. I expected to encounter more problems.

“We have started a new cycle and our first objective is to bring the Scudetto back to San Siro.”

Milan currently sit seventh in the Serie A table with 17 points from 11 games.
