The list submitted by United on Wednesday consists of players over the age of 21. Those born on or after 1 January 2002 don’t need to be registered and clubs are permitted to use as many Under-21 players as they like during games.

Six of United’s seven summer signings are present, with permanent additions Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Jonny Evans joining loanees Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguilon in Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Rasmus Hojlund is, of course, still just 20 years of age and therefore does not count towards the limit.
