Manchester United boss Sir Alex: I will definitely make changes for festive fixtures

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will “definitely” pick a different team for every game over the festive period in order to deal with a difficult fixture programme.

The Red Devils travel to Swansea on Sunday before hosting Newcastle on Boxing Day, with matches against West Brom and Wigan coming before a taxing FA Cup tie away to West Ham on January 5.

And the Old Trafford manager intends to utilise all members of his squad in order to cement his side’s position at the top of the Premier League and progress against the Hammers.

“December has already been a hectic month and now we have this run of four games in 10 days – and then the FA Cup begins. That’s quite a program,” he told reporters.

“It will be a different team every game, absolutely no doubt about that. All the players will be involved, I will definitely be making changes.

“Using our pool of players will be important for us.”

United are three points ahead of Premier League champions Manchester City with a game in hand over their rivals, and must defeat Michael Laudrup’s Swans in order to re-establish their six-point advantage over Roberto Mancini’s men.

The Red Devils have been in fine form in the league, winning their last five games including a 3-2 win away at City.
